Please pray for Braxton

Today Braxton went to see Dr R. We were referred to him by Braxtons Specialist for a hip surveillance. Dr R is going to be his Pediatric Orthopedic doctor. Braxton hit it right off with Dr R when he brought fishies in for him to eat. He loves food. And of course he gave Jd some too for waiting so patienly. Yes we were there for over 2 hours. You know you have a good Dr when we go to leave and Braxton gives him a high five and Jd gives him a hug. Now onto the visit. We got both good and bad news. I will start with the good news. We had some concerns that were brought up by his therapists about possible scoliosis. But, Dr R said that Braxton's back seems fine and that he is not concerned about scoliosis at this point. As for the bad news. Dr R did some x-rays and the results were not what we wanted to hear. Braxton has the start of some hip subluxation. Very common with kids with cerebral palsy, but usually not until they are older. Hip subluxation is the partial dislocation of the hip. The ball of the hip joint is only partially out of the socket. Braxtons xray showed just the beginning of dislocation. So, he wants to start with a night brace for now. Please pray that this works because if not then that will mean he will need surgery to correct if it should get any worse.. Surgery is in his future because of the hip subluxation but he hopes to wait till he is alot older and his bones are more mature.

On another note, Braxton has his next round of Botox tomorrow. He is in need of it for sure. His legs are scissoring more and more when he walks. They are trying something new tomorrow in hopes that things will go more smoothly. Please pray for both him and me. As many of you know how his last round of Botox went for him. I will post how everything went here on my blog tomorrow or Wen.
